It is our number one priority to place puppies with families who are ready for a lifelong commitment of having a dog and evaluating potential forever homes for a puppy is very time consuming.
We receive many, many inquiries about puppies. There have been occasions where a prequalified buyer is really interested in a pup, however they decide to not move forward with a deposit. The puppies typically are reserved very quickly, and some of the most difficult phone calls we have had to make is letting a family know that the puppy that they had their heart set on is no longer available.
Deposits also serve as a screening tool for us to evaluate potential forever homes for the puppies. When a buyer puts down a deposit, it indicates to us that the buyer is serious and not just “window shopping” putting their names down on a waitlist or multiple waitlists without any intention of actually getting a puppy. Buyers who put down deposits are typically buyers who are committed to follow through with the commitment of having a new puppy.
Interviewing, selecting, and preparing new owners takes a huge amount of time and energy. Trying to prequalify a family for a puppy is difficult to do around the same time that the pups are born, and we’d rather focus all of our time attention on the new puppies. Prior to the birth of the puppies, we are on call around the clock, waiting and supporting mama while she’s preparing to go into labor. Once mama goes into labor, we are with her every minute of the labor process to ensure the health and safety of mama and her puppies. Once the puppies are born, we enter into the neonatal period. Puppies are born unable to hear or open their eyes, and are completely dependent on mama. During this time, we often have many sleepless nights delivering and caring for mama and puppies.
Securing your puppy in advance also gives you ample time to prepare for the commitment of getting a new puppy. This gives new puppy owners time to become educated and informed, but also time to make important preparations for the arrival of a new puppy, such a finding and scheduling an appointment at your local vet, and purchasing essentials for the new puppy. This preparation time is incredibly valuable in helping to ensure a super smooth transition for the puppy to his or her new home and setting a new puppy owner and puppy up for success.
Give us a call at 760-898-2132. Once you are prequalified, we will email you a pre-purchase and deposit agreement. You then simply return the pre-purchase and deposit agreement, along with a deposit in the amount of $500.
